HOLY WEEK BEGINS || PALM SUNDAY || PSALM 118:26
As we enter Holy Week and join Jesus in His entrance into Jerusalem, we echo the cry of the crowd:
“Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Psalm 118: 26)
With the fullness of Scripture as our guide, we now understand what they could not fully see—we worship with gratitude for God’s deliverance and victory, declaring:
“His steadfast love endures forever.”
Psalms 113–118, known as the Hallel, were sung at Jewish festivals as songs of thanksgiving. Psalm 118 stands as a communal call to rejoice in God’s mercy, His protection, and His saving power.
Yet Palm Sunday invites us into a deeper mystery:
The One we praise as King
is the One who will lay down His life.
So we cry, Hosanna—
“Save now,” once a plea…
now a praise.
Hosanna.
