Dear Sojourners, Delight Yourself in the Lord (Ps37.4)
Dear Sojourner sisters,
Where have I been, you may be asking? At the close or beginning of each season, a pause from the regular routines of life has proven helpful to my state of mind. In this sense, distance, whether through a staycation or travel, creates much-needed perspective and a longing for the things that truly matter. Breaks away from the noise of life, what's familiar, Oh, it has my heart, body, and mind good.
I give God thanks for every opportunity he's afforded me and the people whom he has placed along my path who refresh my soul through kind words and diligent prayers. But nothing beats getting into the presence of God, however he orchestrates your time and options to hear from him through a change of pace and focus.
This time of rest is essential for preparing the mind and heart for the seasons that follow summer's slower pace of life.
Scripture in action
As I came across this verse of the day, I was gratefully rejoicing at the fruits God has brought to bear when we OBEY Him and leave all the consequences up to him. That is when we delight and obey in God's commands and statutes, his plan and way; whether others understand or support that call /obedience to God, our Heavenly Father, not only is pleased, but he rewards us by giving us the desires of our hearts.
Now, many sisters go yay, "GOD WILL GIVE ME THE DESIRES OF MY HEART!!!
But, hold your horses, Sistah, those desires he satisfies are the ones (His) that your heart longs to obey and actually obeys in trust and surrender. As we lean into God's commands and statutes, our hearts conform to his will, and that's what he satisfies: a heart that loves him and takes pleasure in his Kingdom rule.
Prayer
Lord help us to love what you love and desire what's aligned with your kingdom. Give us a radical dislike for what breaks your heart. We thank you for rewarding those who diligently seek you. Amen.
